Checking your details
Your cruise is already in our system
This means that we can show you a low-resolution preview of your route. This is not the final product. Your final map will show port labels, and be in the style you choose below. It will also use the full AIS dataset for a high-resolution finish. All maps are double-checked by our expert team of (human) map-makers before printing.
We have the data for your cruise
You’re the first person to map this cruise! The AIS data from your ship will be hand-checked by one of our expert map-makers before your final map is created. You can request a preview for your map before it is sent to you by replying to your order confirmation email.

- Step 3 - Finalise your photobook design
It’s super easy! Just start by uploading your pictures and we’ll lay them out in a beautiful design - like magic! Then it’s over to you for any final tweaks before printing.

Photobook FAQs
What information do you need from me to create my map?
Just tell us the name of your ship and the start and end dates of your cruise. If your cruise took place from 2015 onwards, we use real AIS satellite tracking data to map the exact route you took, including any diversions from the original itinerary. For cruises before 2015, we'll email you after your order to ask for a list of the ports you visited, so we can build the most accurate route possible.
Can I preview my photobook before ordering?
Yes. Our build editor lets you place your photos exactly where you want them, and preview your book page by page in full before you order, so you know exactly what you're getting.
How does the photobook editor work?
Our photobook editor has two modes. Smart Creator does the hard work for you, just upload your photos and it will automatically place them in the best orientation, order, and layout. If you'd rather have full control, Manual Creator lets you build your book page by page, one step at a time, and you can also switch to manual mode afterwards to fine-tune anything Smart Creator has done for you.
How many photos can I include?
Photobooks start at 24 pages (around 50 photos) and go all the way up to 300 pages, so however big your cruise story is, there's room for it.
Can I personalise the cover?
Yes. You can add your own title and a photo to both the front and back cover, so it's truly yours.
What photo quality do I need?
We advise uploading the highest quality pictures you have. If you're uploading straight from your phone, that's generally more than good enough. Our editor will also flag any photos that are too low quality before you send your book to print.
Can I save my progress and come back later?
Yes. You can save your photobook and pick it back up later. Progress is saved for 7 days, and we'll email you before it expires so you can refresh the timer if you need more time.
Can I include photos from more than one cruise?
Each photobook is built around one cruise map, but there's nothing stopping you from adding photos from other cruises too. You can only include one map per book.
Can I send it as a gift?
Yes, our photobooks are designed to make a great gift. You can have it sent directly to your recipient.
Once I've ordered, can I still make changes?
Once your order is placed, our team gives it a final check before it goes to print. If we spot any errors, we'll contact you to get them fixed before printing.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Around 14 days from order to delivery.
Where do you ship to?
Everywhere. We ship internationally for free.
Do you offer returns or refunds?
Unfortunately, given that these books are so highly personalised, we don't offer returns. If there's a quality issue with your print or a mistake in your route, email us at hello@thecruisemaps.com and we'll make it right.
